The Landsat reader enables the Sentinel Toolbox to import Landsat TM data products in either the Fast format (Landsat5) or in GeoTIFF (Landsat4,5) format. The instruments ETM+ (Landsat7), OLI, TIRS (Landsat8) are only supported in GeoTIFF format. GeotTIFF format of Landsat8 processed by ESA is also supported. MSS data from Landsat 1 to 5 is also only supported in GeoTIFF format.
In 2016, the USGS started reorganizing the Landsat archive into a formal tiered data Collection structure. This data collection structure ensures that Landsat Level-1 products provide a consistent archive of known data quality to support time series analyses and data "stacking", while controlling continuous improvement of the archive and access to all data as they are acquired. Collection 1 products are supported by SNAP. The interpretation of quality bands are different for both (please, note also that the quality interpretation has been corrected from previous versions of SNAP). Surface Reflectance products for Landsat 4-7 (LEDAPS Landsat-4-7 surface reflectance guide) and Landsat 8 (LASRC Landsat-8 surface reflectance guide) are also supported.
