Description: MODIS data files can be quite large. Few systems have the disk space resources to store more than a few days worth of data processing, the remainder of the data must be copied off to other media.

To allow for a large number of processing periods to be visually referenced online, SeaDAS supports "browse" product generation. Browse products are small subsetted bitmap samples of the larger datasets. Browse samples of many files can therefore be stored online and visually reviewed to afford a quick catalog of processed data.

The default MODIS browse product is an 8-bit true color image created from the subsampled and Rayleigh corrected L1B bands. A 24-bit true color image can also be generated.

Command Mode:

Usage: l1brsgen_modis, ifile="ifile", geofile="geofile", ofile="ofile", output_format=output_format, remove_atmos=remove_atmos, subsample=subsample, first_scan=first_scan, last_scan=last_scan, start_pixel=start_pixel, end_pixel=end_pixel, wait=wait
Minimum command: l1brsgen_modis, ifile="ifile", geofile="geofile", ofile="ofile"

Arguments/Keywords:

ifile Input MODIS Level-1B file for generating the browse product. (Required)

geofile Input MODIS geolocation file for generating the browse product. (Required)

ofile Output file name for browse product. (Required)

output_format The output format for the browse product. (Optional)

0 = 24-bit HDF (Default)

1 = 8-bit HDF

2 = 24-bit PPM

3 = 24-bit binary

remove_atmos Toggle switch for remove atmosphere, use surface reflectance. (Optional)

0 = remove atmosphere (Default)

1 = don't remove atmosphere

subsample Subsampling factor. (Optional)

first_scan First scan line to start with. (Optional)

last_scan Last scan line to end with. (Optional)

start_pixel First pixel to start with. (Optional)

end_pixel Last pixel to end with. (Optional)

Interactive Mode:

Main Widget:

The main_widget can be accessed by selecting "l1brsgen_modis" from the Process->MODIS pull down menu in SeaDAS main menu or from the command line mode by typing: "l1brsgen_modis".
Input items :

L1B file input The input MODIS Level-1B file.

Geolocation file input The input MODIS geolocation file.

Output browse file The output file name.

Select To display the File Selection Widget for selecting the input file. The file selected will be displayed in the Input field. (Similar usage for Output browse file and MODIS GEO file).

Output file format The output file format for the browse product.(HDF 24-bit, HDF 8-bit, PPM 24-bit, or Binary 24-bit)

Remove atmosphere Select whether to remove atmospheric effects and use surface reflectance.

Subsample factor Subsampling factor. (Default=10)

First scan number First scan line number. (Default=0)

Last scan number Last scan line number. (Default=0)

Start pixel number Start pixel line number. (Default=0)

End pixel number End pixel line number. (Default=0)

Action items:

Quit To quit this program.

Help Displays the IDL version of online help on this widget.

Run To start the program.

Run(BG) To start the program in the background.

File Selection Widget:

Input items:

Path The directory from which the subdirectories and files are listed for selection.

Filter The string for filtering the files in the Path directory and displayed in the Files List for selection.

Subdirectories Listing of all the subdirectories under the Path directory. The listing will be updated if the field Path got updated.

Files Listing of all the files that are under the Path directory and match the Filter strings. The listing will be updated if fields Path, Filter, or Subdirectories got updated. If left mouse button used to click on any file, that file will be listed in the Selection field.

Selection The file to be selected when the OK button is clicked. If this field is empty, the directory in the Path field is returned.

Action items:

OK Returns the selected file list in the Selection field (or Path field, if Selection field is blank), and quits the File Selection Widget.

Cancel Cancels and quits the File Selection Widget. No file is selected.

Help Displays the IDL version of online help on this widget.
